Learning 2.0 continues

I started this blog to help me learn about the web 2.0. This week, I had a lot of fun trying out the different kind of picture generators one can use to personal pictures. I made a cereal box to warm the cockles of librarians' hearts (see picture). If you would like to generate your own picture, check out the generator blog at http://generatorblog.blogspot.com/

ROYAL book club

I'm in a young adult book club and the secretary of the group just set up a blog for our club a couple days ago. It's mostly just for our group, but if you're interested in YA books, go ahead and check it out: ROYAL

Technology: Ebooks

I need to vent a little about the flack I receive on a regular basis about ebooks. Learners who want to order books via interlibrary loan tend not to be very happy when I tell them the book is available in Netlibrary or ebrary and therefore I can not fill their ILL request. I know ebooks still leave a lot to be desired, but they have a lot of pluses, too. They are easily accessible, searchable, and never have to be returned. Most of the learners don't really need to read the entire book anyway.

Hey, if I can get used to them, anybody can.

Authors I love

Here's my first list of some authors I really enjoy. Warning: I'm a science fiction nut, so most of these authors fall into that category:
  • Isaac Asimov
  • Octavia Butler
  • Sherrie Tepper
  • Connie Willis
